“That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” — Neil Armstrong
(Aahh! The intended version of the quote, and not the one where he actually left out the word “a” between for and man! Even as a twelve year old, I questioned the quote, as mankind and man are generally considered synonymous. But the dude – an iconic American hero – was doing something unprecedented at the time. He was setting foot on the friggin’ moon! Sure the video was grainy, leading some to claim that it was – somehow – faked, but it was 1969 fer Chrissakes! Technology has exploded at least tenfold since then, maybe more. Do you think that there might have been some strong emotions going on in ol’ Neil’s head? I do subscribe to a few anti-official accounts of some historical events, but the “faked moon landing” is NOT one of them. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
