(From mor-ni-ing . . . till the end of the day!  Some critics used to complain that The Kinks got away with only using two chords, or something silly like that.  All I know is that I loved their songs.  Their songs weren’t as pretty as the Beatles’ songs, but they were very relatable.  Their early songs had a certain angst to them, sort of like the Rolling Stones, or The Who.  The band had staying power though.  They stopped recording/performing for a while, but I believe they recently got back together, and are making music again.

All six of the clue words are familiar old friends.  I wonder if David Hoyt threw in the word “hermit” to throw some people off track a little.  I suppose some could have thought:  Oh, Herman’s Hermits!  Sneaky?  Surprisingly, all of the jumbles came up as new.  I didn’t find any of them all that tough though.  The answer letter layout was an impressive 15-letter jumble.  Nicely cryptic.  I found nothing obvious about it.

Great cartoon from Jeff Knurek.  He really captured all four of the original band members.  The dialog added nicely to the clue/question too.  Another great British Rock Jumble.  Maybe we’ll see one with Herman’s Hermits, or The Dave Clark Five, or the Rolling Stones in the future.  Great Sunday Jumble fun!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
