Answer:  SENT REELING

(A fine pun, indeed.  The catch of the day!  Hopefully for this guy, he was successful, and this didn’t end up as . . . just another fish story.  Then it could be construed as another kind of whopper.  None of the clue words were new today, but three of the jumbles were.  I could only confirm that we’ve seen the one for “immune” before.  I think this is one of Hoyt’s best answer letter layouts in a while.  I don’t think it gave away a thing.  It actually kinda made me think of Frankenstein’s daughter!  Not that there was such a thing, but I guess it’s conceivable.  He did take a bride, right???  And, Knurek’s cartoon was very entertaining.  In a little touch of irony, when I came into work this morning, my buddy John tells me about this bamboo fishing reel from the 1950s that he just bought on eBay!  And, I just happen to be wearing this funky, fly-fishing shirt today.  And yes, I did pick it out before cracking open today’s newspaper.  So, there must be some kinda fishy mojo in the air today.  That’s enough.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
