Clue/Question: Clocks existed prior to Clement’s Grandfather Clock, but they were invented – – –
Answer: BEFORE HIS TIME
(At first glance, I thought: Who are these homely women? But, then I saw it was another period piece puzzle. A Triple P, if you will. I think today’s Jumble qualifies as a time honored pun! We’ve seen similar puns time and time again. But, that was the past, and this is the present. So, without further ado . . .
There were no new clue words today. Ralis95 can take a much deserved breather. Smoke ’em if you got ’em, brother! However, all of the jumbles appear to be new. New, but not very difficult, for yours truly. Howz ’bout youly? The answer letter layout was a marvelous thirteen letter jumble! Beautifully cryptic! But, the set up of the clue/question, and the entire clock theme, kinda screamed out the answer.
Fun, historical cartoon. Wikipedia says this is 1670, and that pendulum clocks were the most accurate of timekeeping technology, until the 20th Century. So, Mr. Clement had a pretty long run of measuring this human construct that we call . . . time. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
