It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”   —   Mother Teresa

Love begins by taking care of the closest ones – the ones at home.”   —   Mother Teresa

(It’s a good thing this quote came from Mama T, because if not for the author’s name I would have struggled even more in getting this one.  I figured the G was the E, and that the LCG was THE, but it wasn’t until I saw the LCG in MOTHER that I was able to put it all together.  Be well and do good, friends . . . at home, behind closed doors, as well out in the light of day.)   —   YUR

I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.”   —   Mother Teresa

(Very few – if any – ever gave more love than Mother Teresa!  I’m going to take her word on this.  I think we all should try loving until it hurts.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.”   —   Mother Teresa

The Sanctification of Mother Teresa

(I guess she’d be the one to know.  She fed, cared for, and gave solace and comfort to the poor, the sick and the dying.  Most of us just write the occasional check to CARE, UNICEF, Feed The Children, what-have-you and that’s about it.  She got down and dirty with the people that society had chosen to forget, just to give them a sense of dignity, hope and love.  She was one of the shining examples of what humanity is supposed to be.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Big Smile*

Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.”   —   Mother Teresa

(Laughing is always good for you, but smiling benefits everybody!  Never concern yourself with laugh lines and crow’s feet, and the like.  They are all signs of a happy and generous nature.)   —   YUR

Each of us feels that we are just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean would be less without that missing drop.”   —   Mother Teresa

(Keep positive, folks!  Whenever I need a lift I listen to:  ‘You Get What You Give” – by the New Radicals.  Great song of optimism!)   —   YUR

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.”   — Mother Teresa

(Apparently, Mother Teresa was a fan of Emily Dickinson‘s :  “If you take care of the small things, the big things take care of themselves.  You can gain more control over your life by paying closer attention to the little things.”)   — YUR

We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”   — Mother Teresa

(I wonder if Mama T. ever tried doing the cryptoquote???  Probably too busy, tending to the sick and starving.  I wonder if politics will stand in the way of her achieving sainthood?)   — YUR

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”   — Mother Teresa

(Unfortunately, the very same can be said about harsh words.  Keep both of these truths in mind when speaking.) YUR

We live surrounded by a sea of poverty.  Nevertheless, this sea can decrease in size.”   — Mother Teresa
