PM Modi: Martin Luther King Jr. inspired by Gandhi's ideologies ...

Anger and intolerance are the twin enemies of correct understanding.”   —   Mohandas Gandhi

(I still hold to my old school liberal values.  Too many of today’s so-called liberals are just too angry and intolerant for my taste.  To me, many of their views and actions are ironically fascist in nature.  Do any of them actually think that Dr. King, or Gandhi, would approve of mobs defacing and tearing down all these statues, just because they feel they represent “racist ideologies”?  These actions will not lead to a correct understanding.  Only to increased anger and resentment.  Construction, not destruction!  Be well and do . . . good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Tough) Sunday Cryptoquote Spoiler – 01/05/14

Freedom is not worth having if it does not connote freedom to err.”   Mohandas Gandhi

(This is a marvelous, and very true, statement.  It is one of the reasons why we need to re-examine most of our “zero tolerance” policies.  Most especially, as they apply to our children.  Too many – if not all – of these “zero tolerance” policies take common sense and good judgment out of the equation.  We cannot allow the dull and lazy rigid-mindedness of these policies to prevail over wisdom and levelheadedness.

It took me so long to figure out that “ISS” was “ERR”!  Although, my instincts were good about all “B”s being “I”s and “ZXP” being “NOT”.  But, I couldn’t fathom a word with “ONNOT” in it!  Not until I figured out that the last word was “ERR”.

Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Faith does not admit of telling.  It has to be lived and then it becomes self-propagating.”   —   Mohandas Gandhi

Cryptoquote Spoiler – 07/13/10

Anger and intolerance are the twin enemies of correct understanding.”   — Mohandas Gandhi

(I take some issue with this statement.  The word twin would indicate that the two are, to a large extent, equal.  But intolerance is more of a cognitive action/reaction, whereas anger is emotional.  We all feel anger from time to time.  It’s in our animal nature.  Intolerance is a non-understanding, driven by anger and ignorance.  Intolerance is the younger, but more dangerous, brother of anger and ignorance.  If you can get a handle on your anger, and acknowledge your ignorance, then you can learn to be tolerant.)   —   YUR
