Clue/Question: They were discussing all the different doorbells and asked the salesperson to – – –
Answer: CHIME IN
(Another great old expression that you don’t really hear all that often these days. The origin of the phrase actually comes from the ringing of bells, mainly church bells, so this Jumble pun is very apropos.
All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends. Two of the jumbles appear to be new, but I can guarantee that we’ve seen “nuhdo” and “plime” in the past. They were all immediate solves, for me, today. The answer letter layout was another nifty seven letter jumble. But, I was able to pick up on the pun straight away. I guess you could say it was a clarion call.
Fun cartoon of a couple looking at doorbells at a hardware store. The salesman is a stereotypical hardware store employee. I think you have to be at least 60 before you can work in a hardware store. Hmm. I should see if they’re hiring. Be well and do good, friends. Please follow all the pandemic protocols!) — YUR
PS. When you try to Google Image doorbells, over 90% of the images are of the Ring variety! No wonder kids today are oblivious to what we always took for granted! — YUR
