Answer:  ON THE FENCE

(Hmm!  Decisions, decisions.  Wrought iron always looks classier, but I remember too many movies where someone – bad guy, or good – gets impaled on a wrought iron fence!  Ee-ew!  What a way to go.  Chain link looks a little industrial/institutional, but it gets the job done, for considerably less than wrought iron.  Picket and split-rail are mainly territorial markers.  They have a certain charm, but they’re not really for those concerned at all with security.

All of today’s clue words are old favorites, but all of the jumbles appear to be new.  I saw them all immediately.  How ’bout you guys?  The answer letter layout was a decent jumble, in itself.  It may have stumped some of you.  But, not yer Uncle Rave.  He is yer resident Idiom Savant!  Jeff’s cartoon needs no de-fence from me.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
