10 of Margaret Atwood's Best Books Ranked in Order

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.”   —   Margaret Atwood

(There was a time when I loved planting and pruning, and such.  But now I can’t seem to be bothered.  I will occasionally get my hands dirty, but that seems to be getting rarer by the day.  Fairly challenging solve.  But I think the Celebrity Cipher was tougher!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

All fiction is about people, unless it’s about rabbits pretending to be people.”   —   Margaret Atwood

(Perhaps from her book “In Other Worlds”?  Seems we’ve been seeing a few of Margaret’s quotes lately.  Must be one of Rebecca’s favorite authors.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Heroes need monsters to establish their heroic credentials.  You need something scary to overcome.”   —   Margaret Atwood

(Classic heroes, not sports heroes.  With the classic hero we often have to create the monster, by demonizing the other guy.  It’s not necessarily fair, or accurate, but that is what’s done.  I wonder how Margaret pronounces “hero”?  The slightly more exaggerated HE-RO, or the more subtle HERE-O.  I prefer the subtle, but I often hear the more exaggerated.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The answers you get from literature depend on the questions you pose.”   —   Margaret Atwood

(This is the woman who wrote “The Handmaid’s Tale”.  This is now a big deal on Netflix, or one of those internet channels.  I hear it’s very good, but I’ve never seen it.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

In the Spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.”   —   Margaret Atwood

(Dirt is a great smell!  Most of us have become too citified to get our hands dirty, and that’s a crying shame.  Okay.  You don’t actually have to get your hands dirty.  You can wear gloves!  We all should pledge to plant something this spring.  It doesn’t have to be a tree, or an entire vegetable garden, although that would be nice.  Just plant some annuals, or some tulip or daffodil bulbs.  Anything where you put a spade, or trowel, into the earth, so you can get that great smell!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Another belief of mine:  that everyone else my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise.”   —   Margaret Atwood

(That’s always been my belief as well!  I’m just a big, dumb, innocent kid . . . trying to keep up the illusion that I know what I’m doing.)   —   YUR

PS.  This great graphic came up as a result of the word “belief”.  Lovely, isn’t it?     YUR
