Visual Description: Manager about to cross the line with the umpire.
FIGNL = FLING, FALUW = AWFUL, LOWPLA = WALLOP, GTNEOU = TONGUE — Giving us: FNGAULALOGUE
Clue/Question: The dispute about whether or not the ball was fair was leading to this.
Answer: FOUL LANGUAGE
(It definitely looks like the language is getting a little blue! The manager looks a little like Earl Weaver! That’s going back a few years! Great scrambling on the clue words. I got the first two right away, but I hesitated a little on “wallop”, and I cheated on “tongue”. I was thinking NOUGAT for a minute, then something with OUT. Then I decided I didn’t want to spend too much time figuring it out, the right way, so I looked at the cartoon and the clue/question. I figured out the answer, knew I needed the GUE and backed into “tongue”. Minds out of the gutter, kids! I liked the layout of the answer letters. Nothing was given away here. Great, season appropriate, way to close out the work week, guys! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. Nobody argued with an ump like ol’ Earl! Getting old is a bitch! — YUR
