Clue/Question: The horse took the lead in the Kentucky Der by, but . . .
Answer: NOT “FURLONG“
(L.O.V.E. it!!! Totally relevant, and a great pun! I know I’m in the minority, but I still get jacked for the Triple Crown season. I don’t know if it’s because I’m an animal lover, or what, but I’ve always loved the ponies! There is just so much pageantry with the Kentucky Derby. The women with their wonderful hats, sipping mint juleps, at the Running of the Roses! For me, it doesn’t get much better than this. The puzzle? Oh, yeah. Great clue words. I had a little trouble getting “relent”, and I was a little surprised to see “fallen” again . . . so soon. I’m pretty sure Mr. Hoyt altered the scrambling from the first time. And, great scrambling of the answer letters. You had to know a little something about horse racing to get today’s answer. I’ve already seen a number of queries, which is a little unusual for a Saturday morning. Do good and be well, my friends.) — YUR
PS. I might put a few bucks on Twinspired, to Show! The #10 position has been fairly successful over the years. And, with 30 – 1 odds it could make for a nice payday! — YUR
