“The only way to entertain some folks is to listen to them.” — Kin Hubbard
(Because all they want to do is hear themselves talk and talk and talk! I had a friend like this once. She would just go on and on. And, if you tried to interject . . . anything she would accuse you of interrupting! She never understood that conversation is a two way street. She alienated so many people this way. Sad, because otherwise she had some good qualities. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“It’s pretty hard to tell what brings happiness; poverty and wealth have both failed.” — Kin Hubbard
(I understand how some might think that wealth might make one happy, but who thinks there’s happiness in poverty? It’s good that we’ve had Kin Hubbard before, because I struggled with the first name . . . again. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“It’s pretty hard to tell what does bring happiness; poverty and wealth have both failed.” — Kin Hubbard
(If I were just poor – I mean always had been poor – I’d likely be happy. But, having had a “good job”, for many years, then being un/under-employed for a number of years, I have accumulated a lot of debt. And, I mean A LOT OF DEBT. The chickens have finally come home to roost. And guess what? I can’t pay the piper. The debt collectors, the angst, and night sweats make it a little hard to say that I’m in a state of happiness. So, even if wealth doesn’t buy happiness, it does buy the peace of mind that makes it easier to assert that you’re happy. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
“Lots of folks confuse bad management with destiny.” — Kin Hubbard
(This was tough to decipher, and now I’m having a hard time getting it! Kin was a very humorous writer, but I just don’t get this one. Who wants to explain it to your Uncle Rave??? Help me be well, friends!) — YUR

“A never-failing way to get rid of a fellow is to tell him something for his own good.” — Kin Hubbard
(Very funny, and true. No one much cares for unsolicited advice. Heck, it’s even hard to take when you ask for it. And, people are more prone to believing semi-plausible lies – when they come from the television media and the government – than actually thinking for themselves. Too often these lies keep us in our comfort zone. They mesh so very well with what we’ve always been taught. Peace.) — YUR

“Honesty pays, but it doesn’t pay enough to suit some people.” — F.M. Hubbard

“My idea of walking into the jaws of death is marrying a woman who’s lost three husbands.” — Kin Hubbard
“When a woman says, ‘I don’t wish to mention any names,’ it means it ain’t necessary to mention any names.” — Kin Hubbard
