(A great stinker of a pun!  I don’t know much about bridge, but I guess I know just enough to get this answer.  No new clue words, but all the jumbles appear to be new.  I mistook the V for a Y, in the third word, and initially wrote in WISELY.  But the ISY didn’t help make any sense with the other answer letters.  Caught my mistake and came back with the necessary WIL.  It took me a couple of looks to get “became” too.  The answer letter layout was another superlative jumble.  Very cryptic.  I guess Jeff might have spent some time with his parents, or grandparents, at some retirement community.  The cartoon works.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
