“Economic advance is not the same thing as human progress.” — John Clapham
(Especially, when only a very small percentage of humans are advancing economically! Things sure aren’t great right now. It was great being white in the post World War II boom years of the 1950s, in the U.S. Not so great if you were anything other than white. Today, most of us comprise the 99%. But surprisingly, a lot of the people in the 99% don’t seem to have a problem with the 1% having the obscene amounts of wealth that they have . . . pretty much at their expense, too. I liken it to how the dirt farmers and share croppers fought for the slave owning gentrification of the Confederacy, during the American Civil War. The vast majority of Southerners did not own slaves, but they were convinced, by the gentrification, that they were fighting for “their way of life”. Of course, there were other factors at play, but isn’t it strange how people can be manipulated so? Be well, do good . . . and question, question, question, friends!) — YUR
