Jumble Spoiler – 02/08/22

Answer:  DRY AS A BONE

(I love the Jumble puns from ancient idioms!    Hopefully, they are helping to keep these idioms alive.  So many of them are just phrases that we heard our parents, and grandparents, say repeatedly, and we just kind of accepted them, without question.  I remember telling my daughter that she was as brown as a berry!  And, she was like . . . huh?!  What kind of berry is brown???  I had to admit – I don’t know – it’s just an old saying.  A lot of our old idioms are a bit . . . idiotic.

All basic clue words today!  Nothing new.  However, all four of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me.  Three of them I got immediately, but “wnrado” took two looks before I saw “onward”.  The answer letter layout made for a tenacious ten letter jumble.  I thought it disguised the final answer very nicely.  It took me a couple of looks.  From the cartoon, I was getting hot, more than dry.

Great desert scene cartoon.  It sure looks hot!  I’m wondering if this is the remains of a mosasaur?  Possibly an ichthyosaur?  Maybe I should ask an eight year old.  They all seem to love dinosaurs.  Whatever it was I’m glad that they’re not around anymore!  There is more than enough in the sea to freak me out.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
