Answer:  LASTDITCH EFFORT

(Beautiful!  No new clue words, but plenty of the jumbles were new to me.  I don’t care for UN words.  They’re cheap, and don’t belong, as far as I’m concerned.  I liked the jumblings of “frugal” and “afloat” the most.  The answer letter layout was a masterpiece today.  It gave away nothing.  Great drawing.  It looks like the king has employed Quasimoto to help the soldiers dig the moat.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
