ATOLT = TOTAL, HEWEL = WHEEL, BROORW = BORROW, HITREE = EITHER — Giving us: TLWELROWITH
Clue/Question: They drilled for oil in Texas in the early 1900s because it was – – –
Answer: WELL WORTH IT
(But, look where it’s gotten us since then. Not just oil though. It’s all the fossil fuels. Or, the burning/releasing of, I guess I really should say. We have gotten ourselves into quite a mess. We have dragged our feet for far too long, as the deniers have bought the big energy producers more and more time . . . and money/power, while ultimately shortening mankind’s time on this fragile blue marble. Many scientists say that we have already passed the tipping point. The big energy producers, and former – and current – deniers may take the cynical: Well, it’s too late anyway, so we might as well keep going! approach, but that’s a combination of greed and defeatism that we just cannot afford. We need to petition our elected officials to enact the necessary changes. And, we really need to hold their feet to the fire, so to speak. I’ll spare you any further preaching/gory details, friends, but be prepared for things getting worse before they get better. But also, know that things have to change . . . yesterday!
Okay, kids! Here’s your reward for sitting through Yer Uncle’s Rave. There were no new clue words today. Personally, I only thought that “either” was fairly difficult to un-jumble. The answer letter layout was pretty good. Switching “borrow” for “either” might have made it a little more challenging, but probably just a little. It was a good stinky pun. And, the cartoon had a nice historic feel to it. That’s it for now. Be well – not oil well – and do good, friends.) — YUR
