Clue/Question: When it came to choosing wrought iron or chain link, they were – – –
Answer: ON THE FENCE
(Hmm! Decisions, decisions. Wrought iron always looks classier, but I remember too many movies where someone – bad guy, or good – gets impaled on a wrought iron fence! Ee-ew! What a way to go. Chain link looks a little industrial/institutional, but it gets the job done, for considerably less than wrought iron. Picket and split-rail are mainly territorial markers. They have a certain charm, but they’re not really for those concerned at all with security.

It may have stumped some of you. But, not yer Uncle Rave. He is yer resident Idiom Savant! Jeff’s cartoon needs no de-fence from me. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
