Gutzon Borglum Bust at Abraham Lincoln's Tomb

Answer:  CARVE A NICHE

(Ooh!  A fancy, stinky pun!  Sacré bleu, le odeur!  Ya gotta love it.  So much of our English language is borrowed from the French.  I guess we can thank William the Conqueror for that.  He was also known as William the Bastard – for pretty obvious reasons – and there were many times that he lived up to that sobriquet.  Take his wife, Matilda.  “She not only refused – to accept William’s proposal – but went to the extent of saying that she was too high born to consider marrying a bastard. Legend says that William rode to her place, dragged her off her horse by her long braids, threw her down in front of her attendants and rode off. Matilda responded by saying she would marry no one but William.”  Reminds me of Rhett Butler, carrying Scarlett O’Hara up the stairs, kicking and clawing!  The #MeToo movement would be appalled!  Historically, there have always been women who crave the “bad boys”.  Anyway, Bill and Tilly were married for over 30 years!  Pretty impressive, for the Dark Ages.   When Tilly died Bill went into a deep depression.  The more you know!

No new clue words today.  However, all of the jumbles are coming up as new.  I got them all immediately this morning.  The answer letter layout was an impressive eleven letter jumble.  It didn’t give anything away, but the final answer came to me right away.

Great cartoon of an Art Appreciation class.  Borglum is best known for Mount Rushmore, but he also created Stone Mountain in Georgia, and a number of works of Abraham Lincoln.  He is arguably America’s greatest sculptor.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  HEAD HONCHO

(I’m pretty sure the guys create these a little further in advance, but it’s still kind of funny that I recently opined that most men with beards – and no mustache – look a little odd to me, with the rare exception of Abraham Lincoln!  Lo and behold, the guys gave us good old Abe, with a mistaken mustache today.  The mustache is almost an after thought for today’s gag.  There could have been a number of other errors that needed an order of immediate correction.  LOL!

All old favorite clue words today, but three of the jumbles appear to be new.  We’ve seen “rahhs” before.  I thought both “ahobip” and “cebmeo” were great jumbles.  They both took a couple of looks.  The answer letter layout was a nifty jumble too.  Nothing obvious about it.  And, another masterful cartoon.  That is one great Gutzon Borglum!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
