Image result for easier to ask for forgiveness than permission

Children are innocent and love justice, while most of us are wicked and naturally prefer mercy.”   —   G.K. Chesterton

(Another form of “It’s easier to get forgiveness than permission”, which some people seem to live by.  Then, you can mark me down as a child, because I still value justice over asking for mercy.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Art, like mortality morality, consists of drawing the line somewhere.”   —   G. K. Chesterton

(As long as it’s a generous “somewhere”, I guess I can go along with this.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Sorry guys!  I was running behind, and I rushed posting this!   —   YUR

I owe my success to having listened respectfully to the best advice, and then going and doing the exact opposite.”   —   G. K. Chesterton

(I sure hope it wasn’t solicited advice.  That would just be plain rude.  By the way, I advised him to by a larger hat!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Impartiality is a pompous name for indifference, which is an elegant name for ignorance.”   —   G.K. Chesterton

(You win some, and you lose some, G.K..  I’m sure I’ve agreed with a few of your quotes, but definitely not this one.  Other than them all starting with the letter I, there is very little in common with the three words.  Fairness does not equal lack of concern, or sympathy.  Nor do either of them equal lack of knowledge.  Perhaps this quote has been taken out of context, and is part of a larger quote, but as a stand alone statement it is just plain stupid, in my opinion.  It did make for a fairly challenging Cryptoquote though!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The most incredible thing about miracles is that they happen.”   —   G. K. Chesterton

(Teddy Roosevelt’s wimpier twin???  More of a Puff Rider, than a Rough Rider!  This was a very easy solve today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”   —   G. K. Chesterton

(Wow.  Old G.K. is really working his way up the ranks of the quoted, for the Cryptoquote puzzle.  Thanks and gratitude are essential in a civilized society.  Be well . . . be thankful and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

One sees great things from the valley; only small things from the peak.”   —   Gilbert K. Chesterton

(I can’t tell if he was saying this tongue-in-cheek, or if he was being figuratively metaphysical, or what.  You do see things up close when you’re in a valley.  And though things may seem small when you’re up on high, you see so much more!  You get the big picture from the peak.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

There is a great deal of difference between an eager man who wants to read a book and a tired man who wants a book to read.”   —   G. K. Chesterton

(Today’s tired man is perfectly satisfied to wait for the movie!  Tired and lazy are related . . . sorta.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

All architecture is great architecture after sunset; perhaps architecture is really nocturnal art, like the art of fireworks.”   —   Gilbert K. Chesterton

(I often wonder if the big man was a frequenter of opium dens.  I do like how Rebecca slightly altered the author’s name.  It made solving this just that much more challenging.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Prolific, and often profound, was Chesterton.  But, often he was the master of a kind of doubletalk.  Sort of the forerunner of Yoda.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
