Semi-Father’s Day Cryptoquote – 06/20/21

Fran Lebowitz Hates Wearing a Mask More Than You Do - WSJ

Never allow your child to call you by your first name.  He hasn’t known you long enough.”   —   Fran Lebowitz

(Known for her books . . . not for her looks.  Just the opposite of yer uncle!  I think my dear departed Dad was prettier than she is.    But she was born and raised in Mo-town, NJ!  And, she had mega problems with Algebra, just like yer uncle did.  Maybe, she’s my older sister?  Nah!  This might be the closest thing to a Father’s Day quote that Rebecca has ever given us!  She seems to have her issues, so we’ll take what we can get.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I figure you have the same chance of winning the lottery whether you play or not.”   —   Fran Lebowitz

(Pretty close!  The odds are certainly not in one’s favor even when you do play.  But, like they say:  “Ya gotta be in it to win it!”  Not a very challenging Cryptoquote, especially for a Sunday.  But, they can’t all be winners!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

To me the outdoors is what you must pass through in order to get from your apartment into a taxicab.”   —   Fran Lebowitz

(I hate quotations like this.  They can be funny, coming from a Fran Drescher character, but otherwise they just sound ignorant, to me.  I hope Ms. Lebowitz was just trying to be clever.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

English: Annie Leibovitz is one of the most famous photographers alive today. She shoots for magazines, was Rolling Stone’s photographer, and has made images of many of the world’s most famous people. (Does anyone, besides me, get confused between Fran Lebowitz and Annie Liebovitz?  Very similar names!  Surprisingly enough, they are only a year different in age, and Fran’s middle name is Ann!  You could say both are in the Arts, one being a famous writer and the other a famous photographer.  I wonder if they’ve ever met, or are friends?  Did Annie ever take a portrait photo of Frannie?  If they ever showed up at the same Oscar awards, the host could revise Letterman’s infamous Uma/Oprah introduction.  I know that kinda went over like a lead zeppelin, but I thought it was hilarious!  So did Dave.  Raves of a feather . . .  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The telephone is a good way to talk to people without having to offer them a drink.”   —   Fran Lebowitz

(That’s why yer dear old uncle prefers face to face conversations!  Be well, do good and drink in moderation . . . but always have a designated driver waiting in the wings.)   —   YUR
