Clue/Question: When the AFC and the NFC met in the championship game, everyone had a . . .
Answer: SUPER SUNDAY
(Unless you knew you were going to die on Monday, every Sunday is a super Sunday! But, today is extra super due to the Super Bowl. It’s our last excuse of the holiday/winter season, and one reason why so many New Years resolutions fail. Once football is finally over for the season, we can get serious about our diet and exercise regimens. Today is kind of the last hurrah, so we get to binge and make pigs of ourselves, in celebration of America’s Championship game. Today it’s Buffalo wings, pizza, chili, hotdogs, nachos, guacamole, chips and dips, etc and potent potables of your choice. Yours truly will be enjoying Labatts and Yeunglings. Some of the ladies will be enjoying some of those “wine” cooler things. There’s really not a drop of wine in them, but they don’t care. Friends and family enjoying each others company, comparing box-pool #s, and deciding whether, or not, some company wasted $4 Million on a 30 second Super Bowl commercial! Something’s bound to break, the dog is going to get excited at all the yelling, and lots of us will end up reaching for the Bromo/Alka Seltzer. Good times! Enjoy the game, friends. Or, just enjoy the commercials. My all-time favorite commercial was from the late ’70s. I’m pretty sure it was for Xerox, and it featured a coach drawing up a last ditch play, to try to overcome a 5 point deficit. He gives it to the bench-warmer, who runs into the locker room area to make 11 copies. Then he runs them out to the coach, who send him into the huddle, and he hands them out to his teammates. Everyone is looking at his copy while the ball is being snapped. The Quarterback is reading it and then throws, while our bench-warmer receiver is running down field looking at his copy, and looks up just in time to catch the game winning ball! It was THE best Super Bowl commercial ever, but I think that it must have been lost, because it doesn’t even get mentioned in any of those Super Bowl commercial shows. Such a shame. At least it lives on in my memory! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
