“The danger of the past was that men became slaves. The danger of the future is that man may become robots.” — Erich Fromm
(Still a lot of slavery out there . . . unfortunately. But the danger of becoming robots – at least mentally and emotionally – is all too real . . . in the here and now. Be well, think for yourselves and do good, friends.) — YUR

“The danger of the past was that men became slaves. The danger of the future is that man may become robots.” — Erich Fromm
(And, if Dr. Fromm had lived to see this uber-technological, “security” enhanced, corporate media manipulated, post 9/11 society of ours he might add: or slaves AND robots. There is, actually, a fine line between being a robot and being a slave. A robot is – currently – incapable of critical thought. While the slave is deprived of the right of critical thought. Don’t believe all you: hear on AM radio, see and hear on corporate-owned television, or read on corporate-run internet providers. Even our newspapers and news magazines toe the line for the large corporations that they are subsidiaries of. So, if these are your only sources of information try to take all you see, hear and read with a large dose of salt. Better yet, watch some PBS, tune into Pacifica Radio or some other alternative radio, and read some online versions of some foreign newspapers, for a different perspective. And, if you can afford it, travel to some other countries. And for Christ’s sake, unplug from time to time. Take out the ear buds. Put down the smart-phone and the lap-top. And, turn off the TV. Get outside and breathe. Have actual conversations . . . with real people. We can only *become* robot/slaves if we isolate ourselves, and allow ourselves to be deprived of critical thought. I know it can be tiring, but keep thinking.) — YUR
