In Wisconsin: Stowing Mowers, Pleasing Bees - The New York Times

The pedigree of honey does not concern the bee; a clover, anytime, to him, is aristocracy.”   —   Emily Dickinson

(I love the sentiment of the quote, but poets are certainly not apiologists, nor even apiarists.  Bees collect nectar from clover, and other flowers.  Passing the nectar from one bee to the next adds enzymes, and after some time, and a bit of dehydration, the nectar becomes honey.  We try not to cut our lawn until every two weeks, or so, to allow the clover to blossom, for the bees.  Bee well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

You can gain more control of your life by paying closer attention to the little things.”   —   Emily Dickinson

(I think this was the follow up to “Take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves.”  She wrote with a lot of passion, but there is very little on her love life.  Some think she might have been a lesbian, but others no.  Idle speculation.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Poems to Help your Public Speaking: Emily Dickinson welcomes March - Buckley School of Public Speaking

If you take care of the small things, the big things take care of themselves.”   —   Emily Dickinson

(This sounds better in theory, than in practice.  But I do tend to address the small things first.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Emily Dickinson Escapes | Boston Review

You can gain more control of your life by paying closer attention to the little things.”   —   Emily Dickinson

(Did she says this at the same time she said:  “Take care of the small things and the big things take care of themselves.”, or was this just kind of a recurring theme with her?  There’s definitely a lot of truth in it.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

If you take care of the small things the big things take care of themselves.”   —   Emily Dickinson

(I’ve long heard this quote, but I don’t think I realized that it was attributed to Emily Dickinson.  I guess that’s what I get for a lifetime of faking it.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Celebrity is the chastisement of merit and the punishment of talent.”   —   Emily Dickinson

(If Ms. Dickinson could see today’s “celebrities” she’d really be spinning in her grave!  “Reality” show . . . participants, and spoiled filthy-rich girls with humongous tushes!  Could Emily make it today without that badonkadonk?  I believe our society has devolved, folks!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Love is anterior to life, posterior to death, initial of creation, and the exponent of earth.”   —   Emily Dickinson

(My brain hurts!  She makes love sound like a math equation!  No wonder love can be so confusing!  Just kidding, folks.  Love is an eternal force of the universe.  Don’t try to fight it.  Accept it.  Embrace it.  Harness it and champion it, for the good of mankind and the world.  Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!  Be well and do good.)   —   YUR

PS.  Some online sites have the last word of this quotation as “breath”.  Why?  I know not.  I like it better with “earth”.   —   YUR

I hope your rambles have been sweet, and your reveries spacious.”   —   Emily Dickinson

(This is an example of poetry that’s always thrown me!  Even though I felt strongly that the T was I, it could’ve been A, and the Q was E, it took me some time to solve this.  I always try to avoid the author’s name, but I saw that it started with an E, but was fixated on Edith, or possibly Erica.  I didn’t realize it was Emily Dickinson until I was 1/2 to 2/3 done!  And, I thought that SWEET was SLEEP!  RAMBLES and REVERIES certainly did not jump off the page at me!  But, it made for a satisfying solve.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

How strange that nature does not knock, and yet does not intrude!”   —   Emily Dickinson

(She seems to have had a great appreciation for nature.  Just not for people.  Maybe for her, people weren’t natural!  If so, I think there are times I might agree with her on that.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
