Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed.”   —   Gandhi

(Where are the Gandhis of today???  They are probably still out there.  They’ve just been shouted down by some ANTIFA thugs!  Earth Day is this Sunday, folks!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  MANY MOONS AGO

(Another brilliant pun!  There were no new clue words today, but three of the jumbles are coming up as new.  We’ve definitely seen “timsag” before.  The answer letter layout was a beautifully crafted, and cryptic jumble.  Nothing obvious about it.  The cartoon is reminiscent of the Space Race hey day.  The answer itself became kind of a Western movie cliché, but Native Americans, and many many indigenous people, did/do mark time by phases of the moon.  Even many religious calendars are based on phases of the moon, instead of our quasi-static  calendar.   Indigenous people have a greater respect for their environment than our so-called “civilized” societies.  They rely on it more.  They are part of it, so they know its importance, better than most of the rest of us.  We recognize Earth Day once a year, but they observe it every day.  Let us strive to be more observant, on a daily basis.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  (From Mr. David L. Hoyt)

Do you want to watch a video of the amazingly talented artist Jeff Knurek drawing tomorrow’s Jumble cartoon? Then check out his new video on @playjumble on Twitter at the link below. He talks about the drawing and you can watch him draw it from beginning to end. He doesn’t reveal the answer, so you’ll still need to play the puzzle in the newspaper tomorrow!

Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.”   —   Theodore Roosevelt

(Teddy loved the great outdoors, and had an immense appreciation for our country’s natural wonders.  He established numerous national parks and forests, and was instrumental in the early conservationist movement.  This is yet another great quote for Earth Week!  Be well . . . be environmentally responsible and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Earth Day

Visual Description:  A scene you’ll probably never see.

CPEHR  =  PERCH,  EIMPL  =  IMPEL,  ANCNNO  =  CANNON,  FRAITD  =  ADRIFT   —   Giving us:  PEHIPCNDI

Clue/Question:  The poker players were able to remodel their poker room because they all did this.

Answer:  CHIPPED IN

(Not bad.  Not sure if we saw any “new” words today, but “adrift” was a bit of a challenge for me.  I can’t imagine a group of poker buddies giving a crap about the room they play in, but I guess it could happen.  Have a Happy Earth Day!  Try to do something a little less selfish today.  Our planet, and its resources, are not like a bag of Doritos.  They’re NOT making any more!  Also, Happy Passover and Happy(?) Good Friday to those of you who observe these things.  Be well and do good, people.)   —   YUR

Nature, Animals, Humankind. Make the connectio...

Image via Wikipedia

When you’ve finished getting yourself ready in the morning, you must go get the planet ready.”   —   Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

(From The Little Prince.  Every day should be “Earth Day“, as every day IS actually Earth Day . . . for us Earthlings.  It’s not like we have any options.  The earth is our home, and we all have a responsibility to respect all our environs.  “It is a question of discipline”.  To be of the family of man is, precisely, to be responsible.  So don’t be such a big ape!  Clean up after yourself, conserve, and just consider future generations.  The more you do it, the easier it becomes.)   —   YUR
