“Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you’re a thousand miles from the corn field.” — Dwight D. Eisenhower
(My very first President! Born in Texas, but mainly raised in Kansas. He was actually born David Dwight, but his mother switched the order, to avoid the confusion of having two Davids in the family, with his dad being David too. Also, his family Anglicized their last name, from the original German Eisenhauer. I ran into a local Eisenhauer when I was working the census back in 2010, and they clued me into that little tidbit. He tried to warn us all of the burgeoning Military-Industrial Complex, but we were a bit too slow on the uptake with that. Now, it’s grown to the Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex, and there is pretty much no stopping it. It has effectively taken over our country. I wish old Ike had made a bigger issue of his warning, but at the heart of it, he was just being a good soldier. He couldn’t help himself. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
