Carl Jung

Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darkness of other people.”   —   Carl Jung

(The first step is in acknowledging that you have a darkness.  A good number of people are in denial about these kind of things.  We’re all a blend of dark and light, of good and bad.  No man is pure this or pure that.  When it comes to human nature, relative states are much more valid than absolutes.  Absolutes are for the childlike, obedient, simple minds.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Sounds like a pretty good poilcy to me!  I’d like to think that I do, but I know that very often I just mail it in.  Doing your best, on a daily basis, is tough work!  But, keeping the concept in the back of your head – each and every day – has got to be a positive!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Happy Birthday, to my friend Ellen!  (aka: Hellen)  When we were kids we used to get these word game books, where there were these short little stories with fill in the blanks that had things like:  Noun, Verb, Adjective, Adverb, Number, Color, Boys name, Girls name, and things like that.  The one reading would just ask the other person for the kind of words the blanks called for and write them in, in pencil, of course.  Then they’d actually read the story aloud, with the random response words in the blank spots, and you’d end up with a fairly silly story.  I can’t remember the name of those books.  Do any of you guys remember them???   —   YUR

(I once caddied for the Dalai Lama.  Big hitter, the Lama.  So we finish the 18th and he’s gonna stiff me.  And I say, “Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.”  And he says, “Oh, uh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.”  So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.   —   Carl Spackler     Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

It’s sad when someone you know becomes someone you knew.”   —   Henry Rollins

Un-know [ Fairy Tail ]

Un-know [ Fairy Tail ] (Photo credit: exxp)

(This can probably happen a couple of ways.  One way is when that person becomes a big success, and you’re still little old you.  That person might think it’s not worth their time knowing you anymore.  That’s definitely sad . . . for both parties, actually.  The other, more frequent way, is when you simply grow apart from one another.  It can be a matter of distance, time, change of jobs, marital status, change of lifestyle, etc., or any combination of these kind of things.  Sad as well, but at least, with this way, it’s more a matter kismet . . . and not a matter of conscious and intentional un-knowing.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Samuel Butler, by Pieter Borsseler (floruit 1665-1684). See source website for additional information. This set of images was gathered by User:Dcoetzee from the National Portrait Gallery, London website using a special tool. All images in this batch have a known author with unknown death date, but according to the NPG’s website the author was floruit (known to be active) prior to 1859, and so is reasonably presumed dead by 1939. English: The Burgomaster’s Family, Dutch oil on canvas painting, c. 1640. Possibly by Gerard Donck (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

(You definitely could not go for too much realism back in those days.  They had to be more attractive than they actually were, and with paintings that had more than one person they very often all had to look pretty much alike.  You had to play up to the guy who was paying for the painting, or else you just might not work again.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
