“Someday I hope to write a book where the royalties will pay for the copies I give away.” — Clarence Darrow
(Having a sense of humor about yourself is essential to every artist, of every artform. Be well and do good, my friends.) — YUR
PS. I now realize that “artform” is NOT a recognized compound word, but I’m astounded by this fact. To my way of thinking, this is a perfect candidate to be a compound word, and it’s almost mind boggling that it isn’t! — YUR

“History repeats itself; that’s one of the things that’s wrong with history.” — Clarence Darrow
(The other thing is that people tend to ignore the fact that history repeats itself, and they go and make the exact same mistakes. There is a very good reason why Afghanistan is known as the Graveyard of Empires. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
“The first half of our life is ruined by our parents and the second by our children.” — Clarence Darrow
(Hey. We’ve got to blame someone! This, of course, was said – somewhat – tongue in cheek, but there is a certain element of truth to it, as well. For good, better or worse, we are all affected by our upbringing and environment. To an extent, many of us can rise above the more negative aspects of our upbringing, but not always. And, for those who can, maybe not entirely. Some of us are just made of tougher stuff than others. As to the second half of the quote, if you can’t stand a little pain . . . don’t have children! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
“Laws should be like clothes. They should be made to fit the people they serve.” — Clarence Darrow
(The operative word being people. Corporate Personhood has gotten way out of hand in the United States. To the point where “their” rights supersede our rights. No one, other than a handful of anarchists, are out to abolish corporations. Obviously, they play a vital role in terms of our economy and employment. But, it has come to the point where they are setting – self-serving – policies, to the detriment of a very large segment of our citizenry. Our Congresspeople rarely meet with John Q. Public these days, but if you are a corporate lobbyist the door is almost always open. If we do not do something to turn this situation around, and I mean soon and fast, the will of the people will soon meet the fate of the Dodo and the Passenger Pigeon. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
“True patriotism hates injustice in its own land more than anywhere else.” — Clarence Darrow
(Are you listening, you ultra-conservative, right wing-nut, supporters of illegal invasions and occupation?!?! This is my quick and dirty response to a subject that I could write oodles on! But, yer uncle is a little pressed for time this morning. I reserve the right to revisit it, though!) — YUR
