(I think today the clue words were tougher than the answer!  I had a little trouble with both “origin” and “acidic”.  And, it looks like ralis95 is going to have to update his clue word database with “batten”.  The answer letter layout was actually very good, but the answer just seemed very obvious to me.  Great job with the cartoon though.  That’s probably what made the answer so obvious!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Visual Description:  Why yo momma don’t want you hangin’ ’round no pool halls!

YOPPP  =  POPPY,  TEANK  =  TAKEN,  KICLEF  =  FICKLE,  CIDIAC  =  ACIDIC   —   Giving us:  OPPTKEIKCC

Clue/Question:  He would later find out that he was playing pool with one.

Answer:  A PICKPOCKET

(Today’s puzzle is much more of a visual one than the usual play on words.  Although, I’m sure the argument would be that in most games of billiards you are required to call your shot.  Also know as pick your pocket.  If you’re like me, most of the bald characters Jeff Knurek draws remind you of David L. Hoyt.  Maybe it’s Jeff’s little way of needling David?  Hmm!  I was surprised to find that “acidic” is not on the ralis95 database.  I don’t keep any record of such things, but I’m almost certain the word, under a different scrambling perhaps, has been seen before.  I know our man ralis95 is as diligent as they come, but things happen.  Regardless, I’m sure that it will be added.  Maybe it’s been used since I received my copy, back in late November.  Who knows?  The answer letter layout was good and cryptic today.  I liked the little pay slot on the pool table!  I only just noticed it.  I appreciate the little details.  Be well and do good, friends.  And remember: Trouble with a capital “T”, And that rhymes with “P” and that stands for pool!  Watch out for pickpockets!)   —   YUR
