Visual Description:  A sense of urgency on the news set.

RAOEPL  =  PAROLE,  LIMYAF  =  FAMILY,  CIAUTQ  =  ACQUIT,  UNRTAT  =  TRUANT,  CAAPEL  =  PALACE,  YRIFEV  =  VERIFY   —   Giving us:  RFIYITTRUALCVY

Clue/Question:  The approaching blizzard caused this in the newsroom.

Answer:  A FLURRY OF ACTIVITY

(Top notch Sunday Jumble!  All the clue words were jumbled masterfully.  Only “acquit” is new to the clue word database, but what a word!  I didn’t have to back into it, but it did take a few looks.  For a few seconds I was thinking: Oh, no!  They left an A out of aquatic!  Not really, but that was the word that first came to mind.  The C before the Q isn’t too common.  Kinda like the C before the K in acknowledge.  You just don’t think about it much.  An old fan favorite is “truant”.  Do they even have truant officers anymore?  With “parole”, “acquit”, “verify” and “truant” there’s kind of a legal theme today, huh?  And, for those of us who remember the Reagan years, who could forget Trust, but “verify”?  The answer letter layout gave absolutely nothing away today, and that’s the way – uh huh, uh huh – I like it!  Uh huh, uh huh.  The cartoon nicely reflects the manic busyness that leads us to the answer.  Very nice job, guys.  Be well, do good and trust people . . . without being foolishly naive, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Zemanta gave me about a dozen Tony Truant shots, so I figured what the heck!      YUR
