(This brings up an interesting point about who the media, and society in general, fairly generously deem a “hero”.  Donald Trump – who I have never particularly liked – outraged a lot of people by saying that John McCain was not a hero.  He was just someone who was “captured”.  How you conduct yourself while in captivity could make you a hero, or it could make you just a victim/survivor, or worse it could make you a traitor.  Opinions of McCain’s captivity vary.  His portrayal as a “hero” might have had a little something to do who his father and grandfather were, both four-star admirals.  I had never really questioned McCain’s captivity until Trump opened his big mouth, and in doing so opened my eyes.  But, just as being captured doesn’t necessarily make you a hero, neither does being killed in some kind of attack, or catastrophe, automatically make you a hero.  If you died while in the course of helping others, sure, you are a hero in my book.  But, if you were killed instantly, or running for your life?  Well, then you’re just a victim.  The death is tragic, like most are, but we have become too quick in applying the word “hero”.  Today might seem a strange day to bring this touchy subject up . . . for some.  But for me, it’s the perfect occasion, because otherwise who’d really be paying that much attention?  Think about it.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
