There are three things you can do in a baseball game.  You can win, you can lose, or it can rain.”   —   Casey Stengel

(Great quote, but we saw this exact quote about 2 and 1/2 years ago!  Boo!  Hiss!  Too soon to be rerun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(That’s nearly a Yogi-ism!  Boy, Casey certainly had a long life in baseball.  Starting as player back in 1912, and finishing up as a manager – for the NY Mets – in 1965!  Both the Mets and Yankees retired his #37, and of course he’s got a plaque in Cooperstown, at the HOF!  Congrats to Chipper, Jim, Vlad, Jack, Alan, and Trevor for this weekend’s induction to the Hall.  Time marches on!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Hey!  The first Mets manager!  This was WAY before I was following the Mets.  I guess Rebecca is really into baseball!  We get a lot of Yogi-isms, and Tommy Lasorda quotes, and the occasional Casey Stengel quote.  Fine by me.  I love baseball.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Ahh!  Somebody that both Mets fans and Yankees fans can agree on!  So colorful and so knowledgeable.  No wonder he was known as “The Old Perfessor”.  I don’t remember him from his managerial days – it was before I was terribly baseball aware – but I do remember him from interviews and ceremonial appearances.  Such a great character, and a true American icon.  And, speaking of American icons, we lost two more greats this past week, in Annette Funicello and Jonathan Winters.  Annette was America’s sweetheart for much of my youth, and Jonathan was the original hilarious American whackadoodle!  So frenetic and out there.  Far ahead of his time.  Their passing is so sad.  They will both be missed, yet very warmly remembered.  Life/time marches on, folks.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
