The moon is a friend for the lonesome to talk to.”   —   Carl Sandburg

(And, the sun is for dopes to stare at . . . even during an eclipse!  LOL!  Gotta love Sandburg though.  This country could use a guy like him these days.  Americans have pretty much forgotten how to work.  Very few want to farm, or do the kind of manual labor that it took to build this country.  We’ve all bought into our “special-ness” . . . and it’s killing us.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Carl Sandburg, People's Poet – The Shoeleather History Project

To see a fool, you lock yourself in your room and smash the looking-glass.”   —   Carl Sandburg

(Okay, folks.  I’m going to need your help in understanding this quote!  I’m just not getting it.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(This is why we shouldn’t fear making mistakes.  Perfection – especially on the first attempt – is an unrealistic expectation.  Live, laugh, learn . . . repeat.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  I wish our leaders would take this quote to heart!   —   YUR

I’m an idealist.  I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m on my way.”   —   Carl Sandburg

(I’m sure this quote helped inspire Paul Simon, when he was writing “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard“!  But then again, what the heck do I know?!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Life is like an onion.  You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.”   —   Carl Sandburg

(Very poetic, and it has a lot of truth to it.  Life can definitely make you weep, and so can onions, but it’s the cutting and/or chopping of onions that causes the tears.  Peeling an onion shouldn’t make you cry.  I’m certainly no wizard in the kitchen, but I’m betting old Carl wasn’t either.  Maybe Rachael Ray, Giada De Laurentis, Anthony Bourdain or any other chef-type, can back me up/clarify this for us?  Be well, do good . . . and don’t hold back those tears, guys!  Except for John Boehner.  He cries at the strangest things, and just a little too often.  Politics aside . . . get help, John.)   —   YUR

Time is the coin of your life.  It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent.”   — Carl Sandburg
