“Don’t threaten me with love, baby. Let’s just go walking in the rain.” — Billie Holiday

“I’m always making a comeback but nobody ever tells me where I’ve been.” — Billie Holiday
(Considering all the allegations of drug use/addiction, I’m a little surprised that she uttered these words. This is almost as bad as Admiral James Stockdale’s: Who am I? Why am I here? moment in the 1992 Vice Presidential debate! Of course he was attempting to be ironic and humorous, because – outside of many military circles – he was an unknown political commodity. But a few seconds later into his speech he lost his train of thought, and came off appearing addled . . . and just plain old. He was an American war hero, but the poor guy was just out of his element. Thankfully, both Al Gore and Dan Quayle did NOT try to make political hay of his flubs. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Happy birthday to Melissa Etheridge!
“Somebody once said we never know what is enough until we know what’s more than enough.” — Billie Holiday
(Which explains why so many people in the United States voted to rid the White House of Donald J. Trump! We had seen, taken, and had more than enough of 45’s petulant vindictiveness and divisiveness. It was definitely time to put an adult back in charge. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“No two people on earth are alike, and it’s got to be that way in music or it isn’t music.” — Billie Holiday
(In my newspaper both the words “alike” and “way” are broken up on two lines. Since I’ve seen this a couple of times before it didn’t slow me down any. The “it’s” and “isn’t” were great starting points. Even though I see no mention of it, I’d venture to guess that Billie was a mixture of Black and White. This looks to be the first Billie holiday quote to be used at the Cryptoquote, since I’ve been posting the spoilers. So, we welcome “Lady Day” to the Cryptoquote Club today! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
