“A word to the wise ain’t necessary – it’s the stupid ones that need the advice.” — Bill Cosby
(That Bill Cosby is such a card! Sure, the “stupid ones” are the ones who should take the advice. But . . . they’re stupid! It goes in one ear and out the other, they forget it, or they ignore it. Maybe they think they know better? The imparter of the wisdom realizes this, so he/she tells those who they think are smart enough to accept, and act on, the advice. The saying is an alliterative way of saying: Ya know, if you’re smart . . . But, guess what? There certainly is no guarantee that the person imparting this wisdom is wise. A lot of complete idiots think they know it all, but . . . they’re idiots! Some nefarious types actually enjoy giving out misinformation, either for their personal gain, or just to mess with you. And, there are also times when wise people have bad info, through no fault of their own. But, if they were truly wise you’d think they’d vet the info before passing it on. Bottom line? It’s all a bit of a crap shoot when someone offers you advice. You always have to consider the source, then use your own noodle. Always assess the risk and the reward before taking action. Just remember that there are very few sure bets in this world. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
