Visual Description: Two guys you’d never catch me fishing with.
SHUIS = SUSHI, BANGE = BEGAN, SLVIEW = SWIVEL, CINTDI = INDICT — Giving us: SSEASWNCT
Clue/Question: The conversation about current events while they fished resulted in . . .
Answer: NEWS CASTS
(I thought today’s Jumble was challenging on a few levels. I stumbled a little in getting “sushi”. Probably due to my aversion to the stuff. Hey, now. We all have our little prejudices. I was a little surprised that “began” is not in the ralis95 clue word database. Seems like such a basic word. How did it take so long for our various word guys to use it as a clue word? BEGUN is there! But, guess what? BEGIN is NOT! But, guess what again? BEGIN can’t be in the jumble database, because the letters can also spell BEING and BINGE. So, there! Okay. The jumbling of “swivel” was pretty good, because it included the word VIEW. Jumbles like that can very often throw some of us. And, I always like the word “indict”, because it is a phonetic nightmare . . . and I’m always hoping that Dick Cheney will be indicted for war crimes! Don’t like that? Tough! Go read some other Jumble Spoiler blog. LOL! Now, on to the answer letter layout. Considering that I thought that today’s answer required a decent amount of thought – aka: I didn’t think it was obvious – I think that the layout was more than sufficiently cryptic! Nice job, Mr. Hoyt! Great cartoon, too. I used to love fishing for large mouth, small mouth and rock bass! They put up a great fight. Strictly catch and release, though. I thought this Jumble would’ve made for a great monthly Unclerave’s Wiseguy of the Day contest, but I’ve shelved that ploy . . . for a while. Lucky you. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. Of course, everyday there are plenty of famous birthdays, but quite a few matter to me today. First off, Happy Birthday to Marv Levy! (The greatest NFL coach to not win the Super Bowl) Then there is Mr. Martin Sheen (aka: Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez), one of my favorite actors. It’s also Jay North‘s birthday. He was a big part of my childhood, first as Dennis The Menace, then in the television series Maya. And, Hockey Hall-of-Famer Marcell Dionne is also celebrating a birthday. The Detroit Red Wings were the first hockey team that I followed as a kid. Happy Birthdays go out to Gordon Stoker of The Jordanaires, Martha Stewart, Beverly Lee of The Shirelles, B.B. Dickerson of War, Director John Landis, and Randy Scruggs son of Earl Scruggs. Go on about your days, now! — YUR
