Jumble Solved – 11/17/22

Clue/Question:  What did Gary, aka Batpig, use during his mudbaths?

Answer:  HOGWASH

(Balderdash and horsefeathers, I say!  What kind of tomfoolery is this?  It’s a great Jumble pun, THAT’S what it is!  Hey!  If a pig wants to *identify* as a superhero, who am I to judge?  If a person *identified* as a pig would that make him a “furry”?  Maybe more of a bristly, as pig/hog hair is pretty coarse!  Surprisingly, my baby sister – who is NOT a wingnut – floated the misinformative story of children who *identify* as “furries” – and their parents – requesting litter boxes in school rest rooms!  I told her it was just hyped up right-wing hooey, but she said she heard of it . . . locally.  We changed the subject, but the next day I sent her a link that debunks the silly notion, and told her that there were a lot of copycats essentially saying:  Me too!  The whole thing is just an extreme reaction to some of the trans issues that are going on in our society.  To a certain extent, I do understand the “slippery slope” argument of a lot of things that are going on in the world today.  But I also think that all of us just need to take a breath from time to time.  Making things up just isn’t helpful.

All of today’s clue words are on the ralis95 clue word database.  Three of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me.  But we’ve definitely seen “finsf” in at least one previous Jumble.  They all came to me immediately, even “gamble”!  The answer letter layout was a slippery seven letter jumble.  But short answers are my specialty.  If folks can use body-wash, then I suppose pigs could use hog-wash!  I’m more of your basic soap kinda guy.  I’m not into too much artificial scent.

Great cartoon from today’s guest cartoonist, Rob Harrell, the creator of “BATPIG”.  Yet another comic strip that my newspaper doesn’t carry, but maybe that’s one reason why Gannett newspapers are suffering so!  It looks like a fun strip though.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
