Sunday Jumble Spoiler – 06/24/18

Visual Description:  Semi-comfortable living.

HHNEYP  =  HYPHEN,  LYUPLE  =  PULLEY,  CANYEG  =  AGENCY,  AOTTTO  =  TATTOO,  GRINIO  =  ORIGIN,  FERYEL  =  FREELY   —   Giving us:  HHNULLAGNTTOOIIFRE

Clue/Question:  He’d been a truck driver for years and would retire a truck driver.  He was – – –

Pre-Answer:  Six Words  (2-letters)  (2-letters)  (3-letters)  (3-letters)  (4-letters)  (4-letters)

Answer:  IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL

(10-4, good neighbors!  T’weren’t no box truck he was driving.  Yep!  This ol’ boy was driving an eighteen-wheeler.  A tractor-trailer.  The Big Rig!  He’s hit yards from coast to coast.  Pulling wagons, reefers, skateboards, and thermos bottles.  He’s likely hit a pickle park or two over the years, a few sandboxes maybe, but generally he’s king of the boulevard.  Give him/her some space, and they’ll treat you right.

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  Four of the six jumbles appear to be new, with “lyuple” and “canyeg” having been used before.  I was going for ironing before I saw “origin”.  But other than that, I had no trouble.  Eighteen letters is one heckuva answer letter layout.  It was a beast of a jumble, but the combination of the cartoon’s dialog, and the leading nature of the clue/question, made it an automatic solve, for me.  How ’bout you guys?  Did anybody struggle to get it?

Fine cartoon.  Nice looking rigs.  The old guy’s truck is maybe a Kenworth.  I liked the flies/dead bugs on his grill.  And, did you notice the little hula-girl on his dashboard?  Very nice touch.  Lots of fun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
