This paperback is very interesting, but I find it will never replace a hardcover book – it makes a very poor doorstop.”   —   Alfred Hitchcock

(A wonderful dry wit!  The master of suspense!  Do they still have the Hitchcock Experience at Universal Studios?  The 3-D birds flying at you was always a highlight, for me!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

A good film is when the price of the dinner, the theatre admission and the babysitter were worth it.”   —   Alfred Hitchcock

(I’d be hard-pressed to remember the last time I even went to a move, let alone making a night of it, with dinner n’ all.  If there was someone like Hitchcock out there, today – making intelligent movies – I might actually change my ways.  Remakes and sequels and other derivative garbage seem to be the order of the day.  I would like to see the Daniel Day Lewis Lincoln film though.  And, perhaps that Life of Pi.  But, even with the films that interest me, I usually wait for them to come out on DVD and Blue Ray.  Too little time, too little money and too little energy.  I think I’m turning into that cranky old man, from my childhood.  Hey, you kids!  Get offa my lawn!  Oh, well.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Television has brought back murder into the home — where it belongs.”   — Alfred Hitchcock

(What a great, wry sense of humor.  I was a little young for the “Golden Age of Television“, but I’ve seen plenty of re-runs of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and, of course The Twilight Zone.  Great stuff!  That might be partly why I like the series of Geico commercials, where the overly serious guy introduces the scenarios – a la Rod Serling.  The guy is good.  He’s kind of a cross between Serling and David Boreanaz.  I especially like the one where he questions:  Was Abe Lincoln honest? To me, that commercial is pure genius!  Just about all the Geico commercials work for me, on some level.  The talking gecko and his kinda dim boss, the mortified cavemen, and especially the Serling-esque introduced ones.  But, I don’t care for the two to tango one.  It just comes off as kind of awkward.  Oh.  By the way, this is the first Hitchcock quote since I’ve been posting the cryptoquote spoilers.  Glad it was vintage Hitchcock.  Do good, friends.)   — YUR
