Clue/Question: The guys drilling for water hadn’t run into any problems and were – – –

Answer: DOING WELL
(Ba-dum-tsss! Well, well, well. What do we have here? Is it a very corny, stinky pun? Yuppers! And I love it! The stinkier the better, when it comes to the Jumble. I hope the guys don’t hit a spring that has a lot of sulfur. While not necessarily being poisonous, water high in sulfur sure does stink! I once stayed in a motel in Deposit, NY where the water coming out of the taps smelled like rotten eggs. Definitely not pleasant, but I guess the folks who live there just had gotten used to it. Hopefully, the water that they’ll get will be sweet!
Hoyt has given us another brand new clue word, in WHOLE. The ralis95 clue word database does not have it . . . yet. It goes from WHITEN to WHOLLY. Another common, five letter word – like LOCAL – that has somehow escaped being used as a Jumble clue word, all these years! Three of the jumbles are coming up as new, but we’ve definitely seen “ghyilh” in a previous Jumble. The answer letter layout was a nifty nine letter jumble. Nothing obvious about it. It didn’t take any divine intervention to see WELL though!
Much more than a workman-like effort on the cartoon! It’s a great rural scene. Not certain if the young couple are supposed to be farmers, but I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet. It looks like Jeff is familiar with a drill-rig. I like the barn in the background and the flatbed truck. Fun Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
