Visual Description: Robotic greeting.
TETEH = TEETH, LOYHL = HOLLY, CHIPCU = HICCUP, JNCIET = INJECT — Giving us: THHCIE
Clue/Question: The android could say “Hello” in any language and loved showing off its – – –

Answer: “HI“-TECH
(Hi there! How you doin’? What up with the hyphen??? It’s not needed for high tech. It’s not necessarily incorrect, it’s just that it’s superfluous. But, our friends at Merriam-Webster DO cite it as a variant: less commonly . . . hi-tech. But do we really need android greeters anyway? Wouldn’t you rather be greeted by an attractive human? I know I sure would. Automation is destroying jobs.
Guess what? These four Jumble clue words are on the ralis95 clue word database. One of the jumbles is actually coming up as new, but we’ve definitely seen “teteh”, “loyhl” and “chipcu” in previous Jumbles. They were all automatics this morning. The answer letter layout was a sad little six letter jumble. But it was surprisingly cryptic. But the final answer came right away.
Great cartoon of the father and son being greeted by the robot, at an airport terminal. Before reading the clue/question, I thought that the gag was going to be about the robot having some kind of verbal glitch or programming defect. None of those words for “hello” were familiar to me! I wouldn’t even venture a guess as to which word goes with what language. If I had to guess where this airport is I’d say somewhere in Japan. They LOVE robots over there. I love to travel, but raw fish and robots aren’t for yer uncle! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
