Cryptoquote Solved – 03/04/23

Buber, Martin | Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy

All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.”   —   Martin Buber

(I guess, in so much that you’re going to encounter different things, sights and people along the way, even your most mundane commutes are going to present “secret destinations”.  But that’s about all I’ve got.  But this is the first quote from the Austrian/Israeli philosopher to be used for a Cryptoquote, since I’ve been doing them.  So we welcome Martin Buber to the Cryptoquote Club today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Solved – 03/04/23

1967 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet | Beverly Hills Car Club

Visual Description:  Groovy Gramps!

LIVAL  =  VILLA,  SRFEH  =  FRESH,  DGIOIN  =  INDIGO,  MOOATT  =  TOMATO   —   Giving us:  VIAEHNGTAT

Clue/Question:  She was very happy when her grandfather gave her his car, but – – –

old red bug convertible | Vw beetle convertible, Vw bug, Beetle convertible

Answer:  THAT WAS A GIVEN

(Hey, I like this one.  A good stinky pun, but somehow it seems fresh.  I can’t remember seeing this answer before, in any context.   I could be wrong though.  I’ve been doing this so long sometimes they all look alike, and other times they seem new . . . to me only.

What I do know is that all of today’s clue words are on the ralis95 clue word database.  Three of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me.  The only one we’ve definitely seen before is “lival”.  The only one I had to take a bit of a double take was “mooatt”.  I thought that was a super jumble.  The answer letter layout was a tenacious ten letter jumble.  I thought it did a great job of disguising the final answer.  But the final answer slots were a big help in solving it.

Great cartoon of the granddaughter inheriting grand dad’s love bug!  And gramps didn’t even have to die for her to get it!  I like that he’s still an old hippie.  Still rockin’ the ponytail and the goatee.   That looks like a vintage 1960’s Volkswagen Beetle rag-top, with peace flower stickers.  I remember having those groovy flower stickers on one of our big ol’ Buicks, when I was a kid.  Good times.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
