Roger Staubach Bust Plaque | Pro Football Hall of Fame Official Site

Answer:  IN THE PASSED

(Not bad.  Old Bart was the man back then.  I was never a big Green Bay fan though.  I much preferred Greg Landry, John Brodie, Len Dawson, Sonny Jurgensen, Billie Kilmer, and of course Johnny Unitas!  Back then there was really only one QB that I actually hated, and that was Roger Staubach!  And why did I hate him back then?  Because he routinely beat all the teams I was rooting for back then.  It wasn’t until I was an older adult that I grew to appreciated him.  That guy was THE MAN!

The four clue words are all proud members of the ralis95 clue word database.  They all came to me pretty quickly.  Two of the jumbles appear to be new, however we have definitely seen “ziper” and “spypan” in earlier Jumbles.  The answer letter layout was an evasive eight letter jumble.  I thought it was competitively cryptic.

Great cartoon of a grandpa and his grandson, at the Pro Football hall of Fame, in Canton Ohio.  I brought my son there, many many years ago.  It was great seeing the busts of all the greats, and watching the videos of some of the most famous plays of all time.  If you’re a fan of football I highly recommend visiting.  Fun Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Cryptoquote Splved – 01/04/23

John Boswell: Historian of gays and lesbians in Christianity

Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour.”   —   John Boswell

(A very positive way of looking at our grayest season!  John Boswell was an American historian and a professor at Yale University.  He had a rather short life though, passing away at the age of 47, from complications from AIDS.  This is his first quote to be used as a Cryptoquote, from what I can see.  So we welcome John – posthumously – to the Cryptoquote Club today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
