Answer:  HOUSEWARMING GIFT

(“Oh there’s no place like home for the holidays!”  And there’s nothing better than a warm home.  Is there?  Especially, when: “baby it’s cold outside.”  It’s always nice when new neighbors are greeted by friendly old neighbors.   And wood for the fireplace is a great way to make a first impression.

Again, we have seen all of these clue words before.  However, five of the jumbles are coming up as new.  Only “pgroeh” has definitely been used before.  None of them stumped me though.  The answer letter layout was a spectacular sixteen letter jumble!  Spectacularly cryptic too!  But, traditionally, receive housewarming gifts from . . . somebody, when they move into a new home.

Nice, homey Jumble cartoon, with the new couple – and their dog – being welcomed by the established couple, to the neighborhood.  It seems to be seasonally appropriate too. At least if you’re a northerner.  A wonderful 2023 New Year’s Day Jumble!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer: MOO YEAR’S EVE

(Never pass up a good cow gag!  They usually make for some of the best Jumble puns.  I always liked “Moo-ve over!”  Cow puns are very a-moos-ing.  They’re udderly silly.  And they always improve your moo-d!  At least they do mine.  Cows are cool.

They have used all of these Jumble clue words before.  Two of the jumbles appear to be new, but we’ve definitely seen both “neess” and “roxvet” in previous Jumbles.  The answer letter layout was an elevated eleven letter jumble.  Excellently cryptic!  But because of the time of year, and the quotation marks and apostrophe in the final answer slots, the answer was pretty obvious to me.

Really silly cartoon!  It looks like a little cheese plate on the bale of hay.  The one farmer is holding a milkshake.  And the lady is trying to serve sliders!  It doesn’t seem to bother the cows though.  Unfortunately – for them –  not mush does.  Fun New Year’s Eve Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
