Visual Description: Clearly NOT yer Uncle!
WEVERS = SWERVE, UGSUNF = FUNGUS, MIARUT = ATRIUM, GDYLAL = GLADLY, SGPOIS = GOSSIP, TOXUFO = OUTFOX — Giving us: SWRFSARLADOSOTO
Clue/Question: When he couldn’t solve any part of the Jumble puzzle, he was – – –
Pre-Answer: Five Words (2-letters) (1-letter) (4-letters) (3-letters) (5-letters)
Answer: AT A LOSS FOR WORDS
(Yer Uncle is never at a loss for words! Even if he can’t solve the Jumble, which has happened on a few occasions. But not recently. But, if the guys were so inclined, this might make for a good April Fool’s joke. The six jumbles on the paper that our frustrated friend is looking at cannot be made into common words! Well, five of them can’t. The bottom jumble, DONBIB can be made into DOBBIN, which is an old word for an old farm/work horse. It’s a good thing that I keep a magnifying glass by my computer!
All six of the – actual – clue words in today’s Jumble are on the ralis95 clue word database. Five of the jumbles are coming up as new, but we’ve definitely seen “sgpois” in a previous Jumble. OUTFOX was the only one that I hesitated on. As you know, I’m not a big fan of many compound words. The answer letter layout was a fantastic fifteen letter jumble. Beautifully cryptic. If it wasn’t for the final answer being five short words I might have struggled to unscramble it.
This might sound a little arrogant, but there is a possibility that our cartoon Jumble struggler might be yer Uncle Rave! He’s undoubtedly a mature gentleman, who wears glasses. But – and the guys don’t know this but – yer Uncle is sporting the rock star hair these days! And, I’m not a southpaw. Upon further review, it looks like the Jumble in the cartoon is in a Jumble book, and not the newspaper! Good Sunday fun. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
