“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.” — George Eliot
(Kind of a reverse Boy named Sue! She was born Mary Ann Evans. Like some other women writers of the time she felt that a man’s name would help her to be taken more seriously. I’m sure that it helped, as she is known for a number of 19th Century classics. Strange to read of the open marriages back then! It seems that many poets/authors had a strong affinity for autumn! Clue/Question: The chef who created such unique filled-pastry desserts was a – – –
Answer: “PIE–ONEER“
(Ooh! If fresh baked pies did not smell just SO good I’d say that this is probably the stinkiest Jumble pun of all time! Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett and Kit Carson, etc. must be spinning in their graves. I just wonder if we’ve had a variation of this answer on a past March 14th? I might not excel at mathematics, but I’m very proficient in desserts! Probably why I’m a full blown Type II Diabetic! LOL!
All of today’s clue words are much older than day-old bread! Yes, they’re all on the world famous ralis95 clue word database. Three of the jumbles are coming up as new though. The only one they’ve definitely used before is “tecih”. So, which jumble did I have trouble with? Of course it was “tecih”. Am I that bad of a person that I struggle with ethics? LOL! The answer letter layout was an elegant eight letter jumble. I thought it was admirably cryptic. The quotation marks, and hyphen, and the great cartoon, made for a quick solve though.
Interesting bakery scene cartoon. I guess the one pie, near her mitt, is a deep-dish apple pie! Either that, or it’s some kind of Jiffy Pop pie! Next to it is some kind of meringue pie, most likely lemon. But it could be a Banana Cream pie, I suppose. The one near her other hand looks like the ever popular octopus pie? And, the fourth one could be just about any other pie. Maybe even a pizza pie? Though I would not expect to see that in a bakery. Maybe the online details are a little clearer? Lots of fun though.
