Clue/Question:  The nursery hoped their new genetically modified bushes would give them a – – –

Pre-Answer:  Two Words  (11-letters)  “(5-letters)”

Answer:  COMPETITIVE “HEDGE“

(Gotta love it.  Not terribly tough though.  The quotation marks immediately gave me HEDGE.  And, the remaining letters, in alpha order, for the vowels then the consonants, helped me to see COMPETITIVE.  And, the cartoon’s dialog definitely helped too. 

All of today’s clue words are on the ralis95 clue word database.  Five of the jumbles are coming up as new for me though.  We’ve definitely seen “vlareg” in our Jumble past.  The answer letter layout was a spectacular sixteen letter jumble.  Marvelously cryptic.

Great cartoon.  Those folks look very pleased with themselves.  All I can make out on the pot is Amazing SHRUB.  Not sure what the rest says.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
