Answer: PUT ROOTS DOWN
(Unfortunately, I think it took some of the horrific droughts and wildfires, of the last few years, for many of the Global Warming Deniers to come around. Many of those who used to – derisively – call people like me “tree hugger”, have finally come to appreciate all that trees give to us. They both provide shade and act as a wind block, keeping us cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Trees also help to muffle traffic noise. They prevent soil erosion. They clean both the air and water by filtering out pollutants. And, they’re a major source of converting carbon dioxide into life giving oxygen. These are just a few of the physical things trees do for man and the planet. They also have positive psychological benefits. They are eye-soothing, and studies show that seeing trees help people to heal quicker, and with fewer complications. So, don’t be afraid to go out and hug a tree. They don’t bite!
Hoyt is doing an admirable job of recycling the Jumble clue words. He is not expending valuable natural resources, needlessly creating new Jumble words. LOL! He did create two new jumbles though. But both “sudoe” and “mospt” are recycled jumbles. The answer letter layout was a tree-mendous twelve letter jumble! Sturdy as an oak! Cryptic as a . . . crabapple?
Great cartoon of the justly satisfied tree-planter/home-owner. A little know fact: Jeff procures magic mushrooms from the little garden gnome, and after he’s consumed a few he starts imagining trees and bushes having conversations! This is a common practice with many artists. LOL! You also have to love how today’s Jumble pays a subtle tribute to yesterday’s Jumble answer. A very healthy Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
