Sunday Jumble Solved – 10/16/22

Clue/Question:  The bowling alley formed a new bowling league, and players were ready to – – –

Answer:  GET THE BALL ROLLING

(Thank heavens for easy answers!  Sundays can often be a challenge, as the answer letter layouts – and the answer words – are usually pretty long.  Today we had fourteen letters to play with, but three of the words – one a gimme – were short, and the other was just of moderate length.  But the cartoon’s dialog and the phrasing of the clue/question made for the quick solve.  Good thing too, because I was having a tough time with “BFIALU”!  Ironically, my left FIBULA is the only bone I’ve ever broken.  Plenty of sprains, disc and cartilage issues – and a broken nose – but only the one broken bone.  All of today’s clue words are on the ralis95 clue word database.  Five of the jumbles came up as new for me, but we’ve definitely seen “GNOREL” before.  The answer letter layout was cryptic enough, but even without the last two letters I was able to come up with the final answer.  Knowing I needed the B and L helped me to back into FIBULA.  Decent pun.  Fun Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
