Clue/Question: The young golfer wanted to quit after the quadruple bogey but was told to – – –
Answer: STAY THE COURSE
(“A thousand points of lights.” “Read my lips: No new taxes!” Those two, along with “Stay the course”, are the three most memorable George H.W. Bush lines. Dana Carvey’s bread and butter during his SNL years was in his Bush Sr. impression. Of course he had other great characters as well, like Church Lady, and Garth Algar of Wayne’s World fame, but political satire has always been huge on SNL. So, his George H.W. Bush impression was probably his most recurring role. With the finger wag, and saying “Na gonna do it.” He also did a mean H. Ross Perot! I’m sure Dana must’ve been a little bit bummed when Bill Clinton defeated Bush – and Perot – in November 1992. But he went on to the “Wayne’s World” movies, and a slew of other movies.
All of today’s clue words have been used before. Three of the jumbles appear to be new. However, I know we’ve seen “crhosc” in previous Jumbles. The answer letter layout was a tenacious ten letter jumble. I thought it disguised the final answer very nicely. I wasn’t seeing it, at all! So, I rewrote the vowels and consonants separately, in alphabetical order. The CRS helped me to see COURSE, and the STY gave me STAY. Well done, Hoyt!
Great cartoon of girls getting golf lessons. The instructor is being very sensitive and supportive of the struggling duffer. Golf is not any easy sport to learn though. It takes plenty of patience and practice, and like anything else, some pick it up quickly, while others have to work at it. Hopefully, she’ll get there! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
